There’s something about fantasy worlds that has always drawn me in. Of course I love the sweeping landscapes, the high-stakes magic, and the epic battles. But at the heart of every story I write, no matter how rich the worldbuilding or intense the conflict, there’s always one question that guides me:
How does this character love?
Because you don’t truly know someone until you see how they treat the people they love.
Romance as the Window to a Character’s Soul
A warrior might be ruthless on the battlefield, but how does he act when the person he loves is in danger? A queen might be powerful in the throne room, but does she soften in the presence of her soulmate? A villain might set the world on fire, but is there one person they’d burn for?
In romantasy, where fantasy and romance intertwine, love isn’t just an afterthought. It’s a test, a reveal, a defining moment that shows who a character truly is when the masks come off.
Some characters love with devotion, standing unwavering by their partner’s side no matter the cost. Others love with desperation, willing to defy fate itself to hold onto the one thing they can’t bear to lose. And some love with destruction, where passion and ruin become one and the same.
These are the love stories I crave. The ones that cut deep, that linger, that make you feel something long after you’ve turned the last page.
Why Romantasy?
Romance on its own is powerful, but when woven into a fantasy world filled with danger, magic, and impossible choices, it becomes something even greater.
- The Stakes Are Higher – When love is tested by war, prophecy, or ancient curses, every moment between characters carries more weight.
- Love Can Shape Destiny – In fantasy, love isn’t just an emotion; it’s a force that can break curses, defy gods, and rewrite fates.
- Characters Reveal Their Truest Selves – A hero’s bravery, a villain’s redemption, a queen’s sacrifice—all of it becomes clearer when love is in the equation.
That’s why I write romantasy. Because love, more than anything, is the ultimate test of character.
Let’s Talk Tropes
Do you love a good slow burn? The kind where every stolen glance and near touch is agony? Or are you an enemies-to-lovers fan, where tension crackles like a storm before it breaks? Maybe forbidden romance is your weakness, where every whispered word is a risk.
